The project had a demanding schedule. Piling jobs were executed in variable soil conditions in all seasons. Ruukki's ability to make accurate partial deliveries, and flexibility to change pile lengths from the original design to meet the actual soil conditions during the project brought about savings for the customer.
Vuosaari Harbour is Helsinki's new cargo harbour and Finland's main gateway for foreign trade. Ruukki's delivery included altogether 23 km large diametre steel pipe piles equipped with rock shoes for harbour piers and steel structures for vessel ramps.
